So Ericsson 4 extends their lead following the in-port races in Qingdao. In fact. the results on the day matched the overall leaderboard coming into the races, to the gaps between the teams have just been extended, albeit slightly, heading into leg five.

The rich get richer

Conditions are even lighter for race two, where Telefonica Blue bounces back in style, coming back from worst in race one to an emphatic win in race two. Ericsson 4 earns second place while PUMA - despite being over the start line early - takes third. Green Dragon took a bad shift on the second beat to fall to fourth.

Overall, Ericsson 4 takes the day from Telefonica Blue. PUMA and Green Dragon are tied following the two races, but PUMA gets the nod on the tie break.

Ericsson 4 has won the first of two scheduled races on Monday. In light, shifty conditions, Ericsson 4 skipper Torben Grael fought off a hard charge from Green Dragon, who took second place.

PUMA was able to get past Telefonica Blue for third place.

The Race Committee is setting marks in anticipation of a 10:30 start. Below, Mark Chisnell offers up his take on the day.
